I'm Marzia Thasin, an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Most of my work comes down to the same thing: taking signals from a physical system, building a model that makes sense of them, and paying attention to the hardware those signals actually come from.
Lately that's played out in two areas. In energy, I built and compared SARIMA, LSBoost, and LSTM models to forecast EV charging demand across four transport hubs in Chattogram, and I ran a systematic review comparing energy-storage technologies on techno-economic (LCOS/LCOE) and sustainability metrics. In robotics, my team mounted a VN-100 IMU on a wheel of a Mecabot Plus robot, collected vibration data across four indoor surfaces, and trained SVM, Random Forest, and 1D-CNN models to classify the terrain. We fed the predicted class back to the operator as vibration on an Xbox controller, through a Unity simulation and a custom ROS 2 driver I wrote, so a teleoperator can feel the surface the robot is driving on.
I came into all of this from the hardware side. My undergraduate thesis was on CNTFET-based ternary SRAM design, where I worked through power, delay, and thermal tradeoffs at the device level, and I got started in embedded systems by building an Arduino-based waiter robot (IEEE TENCON 2022) and an autonomous soccer robot that won the Robo Soccer championship at Cognibat21 in 2021. That background is why I don't treat modeling as a purely computational exercise.
Outside research, I do street photography. I like walking through unfamiliar neighborhoods and photographing ordinary city life: the light, the movement, the small moments most people walk past.
